Candystore recall

Published by andreamg at 4:28 pm under eating habits Edit This

poprocks.jpgWhen you are a kid, stray dollars translate into candy money. For the longest time, I had no idea what my favorite childhood candies were, I couldn’t even remember their names or how they tasted at random recall when put into a situation worth reminiscing. It wasn’t until the other day my friend and I decided to get some treats to watch TV with that my childhood came back to me in one huge sugar rush.

Recently I have dashed my chocolate cravings and have opted for the milk-less side of the sugar spectrum — in particular, gummies. Anything chewy — real fruits, ju-jubes, gummy bears — has kind of taken over my taste buds. I’m not impartial to hard or powder candies like sweet tarts, nerds, rockets, or jolly ranchers, but they can’t beat multicoloured gummy spiders or those huge gummy snakes that you can find at Walmart.

4130m.jpgWhile at the store the other day, I was in search of something gummy but in one colorful swoop of the candy isle, I found myself reliving my sugary past: sitting on the baseball diamond eating fun dips in elementary school, Pixi Stixs hanging out of my mouth while riding my bike, and stuffing my face with grape-flavored Big League Chew until I couldn’t fit anymore than my older sister.

From the isle, I picked out raspberry Pop Rocks and purple Laffy Taffy. For fun I stuffed the Pop Rocks in my mouth all at once — it sounded like skeletal white noise and turned my mouth red.
What was your weapon of fructose?

fun dip used to own me. id eat that shit all day. the stick was the best part.

when im not having chocolate, im SO down for gummy worms. the red and white ones are my favorite.

gummy bears are also good, but i like them because i take the heads of them and put them on each others bodies. that way you get two flavors at once, but they also look so much cooler.

i never liked the hard candy, because im more of a biter/chewer than a sucker. i dont have the patience for that.
